NorDig requests technology for Superteletext and a light API

NorDig requires a common solution for a light API to provide at least Superteletext for HD level IRDs (STBs and iDTV-sets). The solution must be suited for implementation in all HD level IRDs, including basic IRDs, which currently do not support any API.

The various NorDig compliant broadcast networks do all provide teletext services, but based on “classical” teletext formats, which are not well suited for use together with HDTV services. The HDTV services are all provided via IRDs that can handle HDTV and SDTV via MPEG4 AVC and SDTV via MPEG2 based video coding.

The light API should as a minimum support Superteletext for HDTV broadcasts, but should preferably also be suited for provision of Superteletext to all basic NorDig IRDs.

NorDig requests proposals for use of technology for such a light API with Super-teletext, based on NorDig Commercial requirements that are sent to invited industry.

A specification will be established based the NorDig commercial requirements and input from industries that can provide relevant technology.
