NorDig requests information about DVB-T2 functionality
NorDig has decided to specify minimum requirements for receivers that can receive NorDig compliant signals based on the DVB-T2 specification.
The terrestrial broadcast networks in the Nordic region are all served by DVB-T based broadcasts, and the analogue broadcasts have already been shut off in two of the countries (Finland and Sweden). In some of the countries, introduction of HDTV and MPEG V4/AVC may be combined with the introduction of transmissions based on DVB-T2, while a migration from DVB-T to DVB-T2 is being considered in the other countries.
NorDig has therefore established a technical sub-group in order to specify the mini-mum receiver requirements for the NorDig members’ use of DVB-T2.The chairman of the sub-group is Kari Risberg from the Finnish network operator, Digita.
The NorDig T2 group plans to specify the minimum NorDig requirements for DVB-T2 based broadcasts, based on NorDig members’ commercial requirements and informa-tion from advanced industries within this area.
